Doolin Folk Fest
Doolin Folk Fest
For many performers, playing Doolin Folk Fest has become a rite of passage, whether you are a folk legend with decades behind you or an emerging act finding your voice. Over the years, artists from Christy Moore to KNEECAP, Paul Brady, Lankum, Clannad, Finbar Furey, The Scratch, The Stunning, Damien Dempsey, Vieux Farka Touré, Villagers, The Mary Wallopers, John Francis Flynn, Lisa Hannigan and Hothouse Flowers have all played here, and so many more have left their mark on the stages and sessions of Doolin.
What makes the festival special is its scale and spirit. It is intimate and boutique by design, which means the barriers that often exist between artist and audience simply fall away. There are no VIP areas tucked behind fences or velvet ropes. In many ways, the entire festival is the VIP area. Musicians and listeners share the same spaces, meet at the bar, and find themselves side by side in late-night sessions in Fitz’s long after the formal stages close.
There is a strong sense of community that runs through the weekend. The Barn, The Attic and the Garden Stage each have their own character, yet everything feels connected and close. It has the atmosphere of a field festival, with all the energy and openness that suggests, yet somehow it unfolds within the warmth and structure of a hotel in the heart of the village. That balance, between wild and grounded, is part of what people return for year after year.
The festival food is built around our 30 Mile ethos, sustainability is taken seriously, and the focus always remains on the music and the shared experience. It is not a corporate spectacle but a village gathering with real musicianship, depth and atmosphere.
For one weekend each year, Doolin becomes a place where music is not just performed but truly experienced.
Come for the night. Stay for the atmosphere.
