Russell Memorial Weekend Festival

25th - 28th February 2016 - 2017 Dates to be announced!

 

The Russell Memorial Weekend is a traditional festival held in Doolin on the last weekend in February each year. The Weekend will mark the 21st festival commemorating the traditional legacy of the Russell Family from Doolin.  Further details of the festival events and concert appearances to be announced soon.

 

Doolin Harley Fest

16th - 18th September 2016

 

Doolin Harley Fest will run from the grounds of Hotel Doolin. 

The Festival will feature a custom Harley Bike Show, bike graphics, tattoo artists,stalls, fireworks display, pub sessions, live bands and a Burran rideout.  THe Doolin Harley Fest is a charity event, run in aid of the Marie McDonagh Clancy Foundation.

Doolin - Our Location

Doolin is a charming fishing village on the Northwest coast of County Clare. Set against the rugged Atlantic Ocean, it is surrounded by the spectacular bare limestone landscape of the Burren National Park. Here rivers flow underground and rare flora bloom from rocky beds.. Doolin village itself has won a place on the world map as the centre of Irish music and to which musicians and singers come from all corners of the world to swap tunes and to experience Doolin. The village itself is situated just 7 km from the awesome 213 metre high Cliffs of Moher, 6 km from the match-making spa resort of Lisdoonvarna , 50 km from Shannon airport and 70km from Galway city.

Surfing

Throughout the year the surf schools in Clare are a hive of activity, making it a buzzing spot for a surf holiday. Bens Surf Clinic in lahinch are dedicated to progressive coaching of all surf levels and will help you to get the best from your surfing. Whether you’re riding your first waves, standing up for the first time or making your first top turn and cut back, Bens Surf Clinic is there to guide you. All of the surfing equipment is provided, but they can also coach you on your own surfboard. Aloha Surf School runs surfing lessons in the heart of the Burren at Fanore Beach. The beautiful Fanore Beach with all its space and uncrowded surf provides the ideal location for those wanting to take part in the exciting experience that is learning to surf. At their surf school, they offer professional surfing instruction for people of all ages and abilities. No experience necessary and all equipment is provided.

Paddle Boarding

Stand Up Paddling is a traditional Hawaiian style of surfing. It involves standing on a large long board and propelling yourself along with a paddle. SUP is a sport for the whole family and is excellent for both surfers and non-surfers, being much easier to learn than surfing itself. It can be done on numerous beaches near Doolin including Fanore and Lahinch beaches.

Kayaking

Doolin is the home of North Clare Sea Kayaking & its goal is to provide exciting, unique, adventure tours for those of all skill level and interests. The team of local and experienced sea kayakers are determined to show clients all the secret treasures along the west coast of Ireland. From hidden coves and bays, to private islands and beaches, County Clare offers an array of exquisite scenery as well as a large variety of sea life, including sea birds, seals, and dolphins.

Golf

Doolin is ideally situated for the keen golfer, the town itself has an 18 hole links pitch and putt course. Spectacular views of The Cliffs of Moher and the Aran Islands can be enjoyed from all round the course. The world renowned Lahinch Golf Club is a 15 minute drive from Doolin. Here you can choose from two excellent golf courses. The Links Championship Course & the 18 hole Castle Course.

Walking

Doolin Cliff Walk provides a guided walk from Fisherstreet in the Doolin Village of County Clare, along the sea cliffs leading to the Cliffs of Moher. The walk will be guided by local historian and farmer, Pat Sweeney who will follow a trail route along the coast and above the Doolin cliffs. With the green fields of cows and sheep on the local farms on one side and the pounding waves of the Atlantic Ocean on the other, this is a unique way to experience the stunning views and breath-taking rural beauty of this part of Clare

Fishing

Doolin is known as a fishing village & with the entire coastline at your door you can enjoy Shore Angling along with Lake Fishing in Lough Lake and River Fishing in the River Aille.

Caving

Both Doolin Cave and The Ailwee Cave in Ballyvaughan provide a memorable family activity closely located to Hotel Doolin

Dolphin Watching

Dusty is a female Bottle noised Dolphin & first appeared at Doolin Pier in spring 2011. She mostly spends his time splashing about following the boats as they come in and out or she can be seen at the end of the slipway. She is about 10ft long and believed to be about 12-14 years old. Catch a glimpse or get very close to her but please do bear in mind she is a wild animal.

Hiking and Hill Walking

Hotel Doolin is conveniently located on the many Burren Way Walking Trails. This is a group of very unique trails. One of which involves a hike from the Spectacular Cliffs Of Moher with views to The Aran Islands. The Burren Trail incorporates archaeological remains and many of the rare flora and fauna can be seen enroute. Walking Guides can be arranged from Doolin as well as self -guided walks.

Rock-climbing

Lahinch Adventures provide quality and experienced climbing instruction in the beautiful Burren for all levels. Whether you're a complete novice or an advanced climber, they can cater for all your climbing needs. The Burren climbing area is beautiful, with amazing cliffs and spectacular views, and we provide all of the equipment. So why not come climbing and try abseiling in the heart of the Burren

Burren Perfumery

The Burren Perfumery make natural and organic cosmetics by hand from a small facility in the middle of the beautiful Burren. Visit the soap making and still room where soaps, creams, oils and herbal teas are prepared using traditional methods. Relax in the extensive native herb garden and sample fresh scones in the tea rooms which serve organic homemade food amidst the natural beauty of Burren.

Moher Hill Farm

A great family day had can be had at The Moher Hill Farm and Leisure Park. It is located on the Western Seaboard beside the famous Cliffs of Moher. It is is 14 acre family farm park. The Farm will teach and educate visitors about animals, both those traditional to Irish farms and those from a more exotic origin. There are a range of facilities here including a mini golf course, bouncing castle and in door and out door play areas.

Yoga

The Cliffs of Moher retreat is a purpose designed, luxury retreat venue set against the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean, the Cliffs of Moher and the beautiful countryside of Co. Clare, Ireland. Horseriding

Horse Trekking can be enjoyed at Mountain View Trekking and Horse Riding Centre. All the horses and ponies are kind hearted and gentle and make for great riding companions while on treks and excursions. For beginners they trek along in a gentle pace, while for more experienced riders you can enjoy a canter or gallop along a green road or path.
